While it's true that Berlin is happening, you should definitively do a whole special on Bogotá (Colombia). WNYC should be less Euro-centric when it comes to this kind of special programs.

Bogotá is in a crescendo of literature, music and art RENAISSANCE. It has risen from the ashes and it´s probably one of the most avant-guard cultural capital in the Western Hemisphere.

Some reasons why:

* Bogotá hosts the Iberoamerican Theater Festival, the LARGEST theater festival in the WORLD, every two years. The entire city turns into a single, humongous, socially-inclusive theater stage.

* In 2007, Bogotá is the Book Capital of the World as elected by UNESCO. Tons of cultural events are currently being held in the city.

* The city also celebrates the International Book Fair, one of the three major book fairs of the Spanish-speaking Americas.

* A fresh wave of new music, literature, painting and other arts is in full swing.

Annie Katzman

You really should check out my brother Nick Katzman, a blues guitarist who spends alot of time in Berlin because his music is better appreciated there. His website is and his e-mail address is
He needs to be heard and is an incredible delta blues and ragtime guitarist, but doesn't push himself out there enough.
Thanks so much, just check out his site if nothing else.
