The Kontraband is the working ensemble of Russian expat composer Lev "Ljova" Zhurbin, who has long dabbled in classical, jazz, folk and film scoring. With his five-piece group, Zhurbin creates chamber music that takes cues from the Latin and Eastern European worlds along with the classical and jazz idioms. On this moody track, Zhurbin uses tango to rework the poem "Mnemosyne" by Trumbull Stickney.
