Tonight the Latin Alternative Music Conference kicks off with a performance from veteran Chilean rapper Ana Tijoux. Latin American hip-hop heads first got hip to the MC when she was a member of the '90s group Makiza, but she has since gone her own way, and earlier this year she released her solo U.S. debut 1977 (named for the year of her birth). On the title track, Tijoux shows off her hypnotic mic skills against a subdued string sample, chilled-out beat and rousing horns.
