Sanda Weigl
"Toderel" (Music Hub Exclusive)
Playing at: Barbes (376 9th St., Park Slope)
Get: Tickets ($10 at door) | Directions

A native of Romania, Sanda Weigl went from playing in an East German rock band to being imprisoned for political dissidence to becoming a New York-based singer with a rich voice perfect for Romanian gypsy cabaret. Weigl is currently working on a new album, and this track comes from the as yet untitled upcoming release. Delightfully bare and bathed in Weimar era attitude, "Toderel" shows of Weigl's show stopping vocal presence.
