Khaira Arby
Playing FRIDAY at: The Shrine
(2271 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd., Harlem)
Get: Tickets FREE | Directions

Malian singer Khaira Arby is in good musical company--she's the cousin of legendary guitarist Ali Farka Toure. But if her familial ties are impressive, her clear, high voice is even more stunning. On this track from her just-released Timbuktu Tarab, Arby infuses North African desert blues with grand, stirring vocal power. Following her performance at the Shrine on Friday, Arby will head down to Brooklyn to grace the stage at Zebulon on Saturday night.
