For many, Kristeen Young first made a splash in a performance with Morrissey on the Late Show with David Letterman in 2007, wearing a handcrafted yet futuristic "bubble dress" that could rival anything in Lady Gaga's wardrobe. But more, it was her soaring voice and beguiling stage presence that managed to steal a little spotlight from Moz himself. He's such a devoted fan in fact, that he's frequently handpicked her for a series of tours, including one that begins this May. But Morrissey is not the only fan of Young's music: She's written for and recorded duets with David Bowie and Placebo's Brian Molko.

Now, following her 2011 high-concept EP, V The Volcanic, Kristeen Young is set to drop a new album, The Knife Shift. Produced by frequent Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti, it's an intense collection of bold rockers propelled by the furious drumming skills of Dave Grohl. Still, at the heart of these visceral songs is Young's catchy yet operatic vocals and a distinct percussive piano style that has already won over some of music's biggest names.

Set List:

  • "This Is War"
  • "Jealous Of Loved Children"
  • "The Pictures Of Sasha Grey"

I double dog dare her to swap the line of virgin should of had abortion, and somehow suggest same for The prophet Mohammad. I just think this is sad she has clearly been hurt by someone or something this kind of music does not come from a creative space rather a deeply wounded and confused person, not to mention how hurtful this is to so many.

She is the WORST! Absolute no-talent creep, she is. Crazy and just plain mean. It's clear that virtually nobody likes this woman, buys her albums, or goes to her shows and yet she continues attempting this "career" that's a joke. I pity her, really.

Kristeen Young is one of the sweetest and kindest people I've had the pleasure of meeting, working with (I managed a modest little website for her) and getting to know. Her values are authentic, she's intelligent and has the work ethic of a salmon swimming upstream dodging hungry bears. (Ha) On stage she has no self-awareness and performs with no pretense. She believes in every word and not one note is wrong. It would not seem possible that someone with that kind of powerful stage presence would be so gentle and soft spoken but she really is. I don't want to be misleading though, she is one of the strongest, opinionated and tenacious people I've ever met. She's Brilliant and incredibly talented, but her integrity and dry wit seals the deal. She's very engaging and that wry and clever sense of humor draws people in. I just love her to pieces.

She is nothing short of a legend to me.
No one does (or can do) what Kristeen does on every album.

Pictures of Sasha Grey is possibly one of the best songs I've ever heard.
