In this episode: We bring you the music you probably won't hear during the World Cup, in the latest installment of our Soundcheck Guide to Brazil. Julia Furlan, Buzzfeed audio editor and WNYC contributor, gives us a guided tour of some of the best indie bands making music in Brazil today.

Plus: Singer-songwriter and member of the illustrious Wainwright clan, Loudon Wainwright III stops by the studio to talk about (and perform spoken-word excerpts from) his new one-man show, Surviving Twin, which is currently playing at the Westside Theatre. It’s billed as a “posthumous collaboration” with his late father, Loudon Wainwright Jr., the esteemed LIFE Magazine columnist.

And: Part indie pop band, part performance art ensemble and modern dance troupe, People Get Ready have a new album on the way that expands its sound world to include 1970s electronic music and other surprises. Hear the Brooklyn group play live in the Soundcheck studio.
