Our pals over at Studio 360 have challenged listeners to create a modern cover of the classic 1914 blues song "Yellow Dog Blues." W.C. Handy's hit helped him earn the moniker "the father of the blues," but the cover contest is looking for a reinterpretation that pays tribute to the original while capturing the sound of 2014.
Soundcheck host John Schaefer sits with Studio 360's Kurt Andersen and musician and contest judge Marc Anthony Thompson (a.k.a. Chocolate Genius) to listen to some of the listener submissions so far.
You can still enter Studio 360's Extra Credit challenge: Visit their website and submit your cover of "Yellow Dog Blues" by June 16.
